I was born and raised in the Midwest, graduated from Jefferson
High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and received my Bachelor of Arts from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. I
have been in the teaching profession for seven years and have also enjoyed experience in the publishing field. Now
in my fifth year in the Ankeny Community School District, I enjoy teaching six sections of English 9.
Every day, I look forward to the insight and creativity of my students. What a great job!
I live in Des Moines; cheer for the Chicago Bears; enjoy gardening, reading, exercising,
writing, and cooking; and I spend my summers hiking and camping.
Currently, I am pursuing professional development opportunities and participating in creative
writing courses. I've had a few minor publishing successes; I'm still working on a major one.
